Interview with Anna Kim.
Tell us a bit about yourself….
After years of experience in Fashion & Design, I was inspired to start something of my own and my love for kids fashion was naturally on the top of the list of things I wanted to pursue. Soon after, the idea of minikin was conceived and was born on June 2, 2011.
How did you come up with the name M I N I K I N?
Minikin means “a small, dainty creature,” and I thought it was the perfect name for the shop and the little ones we get to dress.
What was the inspiration and story behind www.shopminikin.com and when was the company founded?
Inspiration for minikin? Kids! I love how they have that whimsical, light-hearted energy within them which pairs so well with the understated designs I particularly love.
What is your process in determining which brands will be carried in your shop?
I think it’s initially love at first sight, then planned and curated with the elements of practicality, quality, and story. Equal parts instinct with careful consideration.
What trends did you see happening to inspire the Spring/Summer 2010 line?
Hmm…I believe comfort should be at the forefront of any trend, because a kid’s spunk and free-spirit are what overrides any kind of trend or style.
What makes the M I N I K I N experience different from other brands or boutiques?
At minikin, we make effort to making each shopping experience a personal one. We want our customers to feel as if they were shopping in a boutique, with an attentive sales person. We love to help our customers with coordinating outfits, pair pieces together, etc. It’s the
favorite part of our job!
If you had to describe the M I N I K I N brand in one word, what would it be?
Boy, this is a tough one. So many words, but for 2012, I think it’d be irresistible!
P.S. We think so too!!!
